Kingdom Archaebacteria
Characteristis of Kingdom Archaebacteria:
1. Methanogens:
1. Methanogens:
- Important decomposers in marshes and swamps
- Important symbionts in termites and other herbivores
- Found in waters of extreme salinity (15 - 20%)
- Found in mineral springs and thermal volcanic vents on the ocean floor
- Habitat is hot (60 - 80 degrees Celsius)
- Habitat is acidic (pH 2 - 4)
- Prokaryotics are extremely common on earth. It is found almost everywhere in less conditions such as extreme temperatures.
- Bacteria cell walls are different from plant cell walls because plant cell walls are usually made of cellulose or chloroplast. Most bacterial cell walls contain peptidoglycan, which is basically a modified sugar polymers.
- Cell walls help classify bacteria because their cells have thick, rigid walls that surround a cell membrane.
- Molecular systematics help lead classifying prokaryotes into two domains because Eubacteria has cell walls without peptidoslycan and Archaebacteria does not have peptidoslycan.
- The role play bacteria does in recycling nutrients is that the bacteria breaks down leaves and grass and that allows the nutrients to grow new vegitation.
- Causing diseases used in biological warfare
- used for food such as yogurt
- Bacteria is used in industries to clean up wastes.
- Helps the human body so we can absorb nutrients
- We use it to clean our water.
